We open up with Nucky's deal in Ireland, which is smuggling some of those Thompson sub-machine guns under the cover of bringing his father's body to Ireland to be buried. The IRA leadership takes under consideration a deal that swaps guns for whiskey. In the end, they decide to balk at the deal because England is extending a truce to their ranks. After a last ditch attempt at pot stirring, as well as one last attempt to go over the IRA and appeal straight to the distiller himself, Nucky seems to give up hope on getting his deal through.
Arriving in Belfast, Nucky and Owen meet with IRA leaders with a barter proposition. Meanwhile, in Atlantic City, Jimmy and his partners broker a deal with George Remus for his “medicinal” alcohol before taking a break to see/hear the Dempsey fight. Margaret frets when Emily’s illness takes a turn for the worse

Nucky and Owen arrive in Belfast with a casket in tow. Nucky tells the officer checking passports that he’s there to bury is father in the land of his birth. The agent pointedly welcomes them to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland to which Owen snarkily replies, “God save the King.”
Margaret (Kelly Macdonald): Emily has taken a turn for the worst. She wakes up one morning not being able to move her legs. Margaret frantically fetches for a doctor who informs her that her daughter may have contracted polio. That’s absolutely heartbreaking news because not only does that mean Emily has a debilitating disease, it also means that she needs to be quarantined in the hospital and her belongings destroyed. (I don’t have children myself but just watching the scene where the little girl is screaming out for her mother while doctors were sticking long needles in her was absolutely horrifying
